“pinoy” english
I was reading a novel in this coffee shop when I heard two girls giggling at this guy who was ordering coffee. It was really annoying because they didn’t care to hide that they were laughing at him. I looked at the guy and there was really nothing unusual or funny about him. The only thing different is the way he talked. He has this Indian accent when he talks. But being from India (i was guessing from his appearance), that was perfectly normal.
My thoughts: Why do people who speaks with an American or "slang" accent better than the other people who speaks English with a different accent? Is it really important to rid off the "pinoy" or in my case "chinese" accent? If you talk "slang", does that mean that you’re superior or that you’re English is the right one? I’ve never been to USA, but i’m pretty sure that people there don’t speak English the same way…
